Which pad sits where?
Back, from below the neck to the lower back. One removable back protector (RZ-LABS RZ-801), with a matching D3O RF foam layer.
Shoulders. Two removable shoulder pads, one at each shoulder (RZ-LABS RZ-803), each with a D3O RF foam layer.
Elbows. Two removable elbow pads, one at each elbow (RZ-LABS RZ-804), each with a D3O RF foam layer.
Chest. Soft, sewn-in padding on both sides of the zip, from below the collarbone to below the breastbone.
Collarbones. Two soft, sewn-in pads, one at each collarbone. These are separate from the removable shoulder pads.
Ribs. Soft, sewn-in padding on both sides: from the front below the breastbone, around the side beneath the arm, to almost the back.
The five removable pads for the back, shoulders and elbows are RZ-LABS pads. Each has an extra foam layer beneath it, called D3O RF. The pad and its foam layer belong together: take them out of the same pocket as one piece.
The soft padding at the chest, collarbones and ribs is sewn in. It stays in the shirt when you remove the five pads for cleaning. The two collarbone pads are separate from the removable shoulder pads.
The soft shirt fabric stretches in several directions. The front zip helps with dressing. Try the shirt beneath your jacket or cycling jersey to check shoulder position, sleeve length and freedom of movement together.
Choose a size, then check the fit
Measure over the clothes you will wear underneath
Measure your chest over your planned base layer and compare it with the appropriate top chart in the instructions. Unisex does not mean a size will fit every body shape alike. Check shoulder position and sleeve length too.
Check where the pads sit
Close the zip. Check that the shoulder pads sit at your shoulders and the elbow pads at your elbows. Adjust the elbow straps so the pads sit close without squeezing. You still need the correct shirt size.
Bend, turn and reach forwards
Check the fit while reaching towards a snowboard binding, moving your arms as if using ski poles or taking your cycling position. After repeating the movements, check that the back protector stays at your back and the shoulder and elbow pads stay in their intended positions.
Try the complete outfit
Put your outer clothing on and check again. Look for twisted sleeves, fabric riding up or pressure points. Readjust the straps or compare another size if a pad or the fixed padding shifts.

What the PLUS version adds
Compared with the standard Zero RF Top, the PLUS version adds padding at the ribs and adjustable straps at the elbows. These straps let you adjust the fit around the elbow pads.
The padding at the chest, collarbones and ribs stays fixed in the shirt. You can remove the back, shoulder and elbow pads for cleaning, each together with its foam layer. Compare the positions of the padding, the adjustable straps and the fit beneath your sports clothing.
Clean, dry and refit the components
Carefully remove the back protector, two shoulder pads and two elbow pads from their pockets. Take each pad out with its matching RF foam layer as one piece. Leave the chest, collarbone and rib padding in the shirt. Do not unpick seams or cut padding out.
Wipe the removed pads and their foam layers with a damp cloth only. Do not use soap, detergent or other cleaners on them. Do not soak or wash them.
Hand wash the shirt in cold water with mild detergent, leaving the sewn-in chest, collarbone and rib padding in place. Do not use fabric softener or bleach, wring the shirt or put it in a washing machine.
Air dry the shirt and all removed parts completely, away from sunlight, tumble dryers and heaters. Put each dry pad back with its foam layer, in its own pocket and in the correct orientation. All five pads and their foam layers must be in place before the next use.
Store the completely dry top in a ventilated place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep heavy items off the inserts and avoid sharp folds.
Intended use and checks before riding
The top is intended for cycling and snow sports, including skiing and snowboarding. Do not use it for motorsports. Its padding is intended to cushion light impacts and reduce superficial injuries; the garment cannot provide complete protection against injury or serious accidents.
Before each use, inspect the inserts, seams, zip and straps. Replace a damaged product; do not continue using it. A fall or impact can cause damage that is not visible: check the top and replace it if in doubt. Follow the replacement guidance in the instructions and ask the manufacturer if you are unsure before further use.
Read the full instructions before first use and follow the care label. The model name and part number on your product help you find the right documents.

Zero PLUS or X V7: fixed chest padding or a removable protector
The Zero PLUS has five removable pads: one for the back, two for the shoulders and two for the elbows. Its soft chest, collarbone and rib padding stays fixed in the shirt. The X V7 men’s top has D3O protectors at the back, chest, shoulders and elbows. The separate removable chest protector brings the V7 to six removable pads in total, alongside fixed foam padding at the upper chest and ribs. The V7 also offers X-Connect for compatible lower garments. Compare the V7 men’s cut with the Zero PLUS unisex cut, the adjustable straps and the fit of your complete sports outfit.

Questions about fit, components and buying
Can I take out the chest, collarbone and rib padding too?
No. This soft padding is sewn in and stays in the shirt. You can remove the five pads for the back, shoulders and elbows, each with its matching foam layer as one piece. The two fixed collarbone pads are separate parts and do not come out with the shoulder pads. Use the pocket openings and leave seams and fixed padding intact.
How tight should the elbow straps be?
Secure enough to keep the elbow pads in position, but comfortable when bending and straightening. Squeezing, tingling or pulling at the sleeve calls for a change of adjustment and possibly size.
Can I use the top without its back protector?
Use it for sport with all five pads and their foam layers in place. For cleaning, take the back protector out with its RF foam layer as one piece. The remaining fabric does not replace the back protector and that foam layer.
